With the EU Blue Card, academics with a minimum annual gross salary of € 56,800 (2021) or € 44,304 (STEM professions) have further benefits - including easier conditions for family reunification and the possibility to obtain a permanent settlement permit after 21 months.

Germany has opened up the labour market to the also urgently needed professionals with vocational training. The restriction to academics  and shortage occupations has been removed. Often, only theoretical or practical postqualification is necessary.

The foreign vocational or academic qualification must be recognised in Germany. It may already be generally recognised or it may have to pass through a recognition procedure. If final qualifications are still required, a period of residence for training and skill development can be issued. This means that you can already enter Germany for this purpose.

In addition to professionals (academics and professionals with vocational training), other groups of people can enter Germany and work here - e.g. managers, specialists, employees on international staff exchange, speciality cooks, business travellers and many more.
